I haven't always succeeded in life. Sometimes each time I get up something seems to want to push me down. Sometimes I laugh until tears roll down my cheeks. Sometimes I sit in the wind and just breathe. Sometimes I feel like crying, and sometimes like flying. It's all me, and sometimes...I write these things down, and they're here for you to see.

If I were the ruler of the sky

If I were the ruler of the sky,
The laws of gravity I would defy.
I'd swoop and soar and breathe the air,
And live as though there weren't a care,
If I were the ruler of the sky.

If I were the ruler of the sky,
I'd bring a friend
And play to the end
Of a day lived way up high,
If I were the ruler of the sky.

If I were the ruler of the sky,
I'd meet with a sunset of July,
And with that friend I took with me
Taste the flavors of clouds we'd see,
If I were the ruler of the sky.

If I were the ruler of the sky,
The storms would rage way up high.
And way down low, and quite nearby,
The trees would sing a sweet reply,
If I were the ruler of the sky.

If I were the ruler of the sky,
I think pure happiness would be mine.
To be quite free... To roam as I please...
To get where I want to with such ease...
If I were the ruler of the sky.

If I were the ruler of the sky,
I would see the beauty of nature, through God's eye.
I would see the mountains, climb with ease,
Hear the oceans, feel the breeze,
If I were the ruler of the sky.

If I were the master of the earth,
And could cross deserts in a leap of mirth,
Why travel would be just fine,
With the lands in total possession of mine,
If I were the master of the earth.

If I were the captain of the sea,
And controlled the waves all around me,
I'd sail and I'd swim as far as I could,
And need no boat made out of wood,
If I were the captain of the sea.

If I were the sailor of the winds,
I'd never be captured, I always would win.
I'd whip and I'd fly as fast as could be,
Free to rejoice, free to be me,
If I were the sailor of the winds.

If I were the sailor of the winds,
I could blow and be heard, or sit and be still,
For try as you might, the wind always will
Be free and at ease, you can never distill
Nor capture the wind, so I would be fine,
If I were the sailor of the winds.

Of all the things that "If I could be",
The wind, or the land, the sky, or the sea,
There's really no other that I'd rather be
Than the one that I am, the girl that is Me.
I choose what I want, I love to be free.
But what of the things that "If I could be"?

What can I captain to gain a reward?
I Live, and I Learn, each day is explored.
And of all the elements that I have implored,
I'll never give up for any huge fee,
The choice to be mine, the great chance to be
The Master of My Destiny. :)

  2. Ever wondered what the clouds would taste like? The other day I saw some that looked like merengue after you take it out of the oven...mmmm.... :) And the pink/orange ones would taste like sherbet, I think. Maybe they'd be creamy? Perhaps delicate and fluffy like cotton candy... I don't know... ;)
    Love, Me.

  3. I saw a cloud the other day that I really wanted to eat. I didn't know what it would taste like, but I really wanted to find out. :p

Amazing poem, Jenna. :) I love it.
